about

Abstract were the kids in your high school jazz band who went to Morbid Angel shows one weekend and Jamiroquai the next. Their ages ranged from only 15 to 17 at its founding.

Featuring Domenic Calabrese on guitar, vocals, and saxophone, George Miller on guitar, and Matt Volke on bass. Past members include original drummer Greg Newton.

With influences from classic metal bands like Metallica, Tool, Cynic, and Rage Against the Machine, to jazz and funk legends like Herby Hancock, Wes Montgomery, and James Brown, Abstract combined a variety of styles to create a colorful musical pallet.

The core trio of Domenic, George, and Matt were studious musicians who enjoyed stretching theory and breaking its rules through Abstract. Their music is an explosion of experimentation, creativity, and exploration.

Domenic attended Berkley School of Music for jazz theory and performance and earned a degree in Neuropsychology. George holds a degree in music and leads the successful George Miller School of Music. Matt, who also studied music in college, is an international award-winning marketing copywriter who is still very active in music with his folk soul band The Dezmonds, available wherever music is streamed.

Creativity is seeing what others see and thinking what no one else ever thought. – Albert Einstein
